Responsibility

Safe operations, handled once.

Health, safety and environment are treated as an integral part of running a cargo station — governed by policy, audited, and reported to management.

HSE policy

What the policy commits us to.

These are the commitments set out in the Focus CFS health, safety and environment policy — stated obligations, not aspirations.

Health and safety is integral, not adjacent

Focus CFS recognises that the disciplines of health and safety are an integral part of its operation — not a compliance layer bolted onto it.
Policy commitment

Leadership is accountable for HSE risk

Leadership is held accountable for systematically managing health, safety and environmental risk across the station.
Policy commitment

Employees are trained and accountable

Employees are trained on their HSE responsibilities and held accountable for following HSE procedures — working in a manner that safeguards themselves, their colleagues, customers, suppliers, contractors and the public.
Policy commitment

Continual improvement

HSE performance is continually improved as a contribution to business success, with results audited and reported to management.
Policy commitment

Pollution prevention

New business practices and pollution-prevention opportunities are identified and developed as solutions to environmental problems.
Policy commitment

Legal compliance is assessed

Compliance with HSE legal requirements is assessed rather than assumed, through the management system.

In practice

No carbon figures, because Focus CFS publishes none. What follows is what the site verifiably does.

Efficiency is the environmental measure we can actually evidence.

A cargo station’s footprint is mostly movement: trucks running, equipment lifting, containers shunted. These are the arrangements that reduce it — not as a programme, but as a matter of how the site is laid out.

Covered warehousing

Hazardous cargo is segregated

Stored separately and in accordance with HAZMAT compatibility requirements — a storage rule that governs what may be held next to what, protecting the site and everyone on it.

Cargo handled once, not repeatedly

With KRA, KEBS and Kenya Police resident on site, cargo does not travel to be inspected and travel back. Removing that movement removes the fuel, the truck trips and the road wear that go with it.

Segregated storage reduces handling

Because container storage, vehicle storage and warehousing are separate areas, cargo is not shunted between competing uses of the same ground. Fewer moves means less equipment running.

Hazardous cargo is properly separated

Hazardous cargo is stored separately and in accordance with HAZMAT compatibility requirements — protecting the site, the people on it and the surrounding area.

Documentation before arrival

Processing paperwork ahead of the vessel shortens dwell time. Cargo that clears faster spends less time occupying ground and less time under powered storage.

Pedestrian and vehicle separation

A separated pedestrian walkway keeps people away from operating handling equipment — the single most consequential safety control on a working yard.

Quality & certification

Customer satisfaction is measured, not assumed.

As part of its quality policy, Focus CFS regularly monitors customer satisfaction as one of the measurements of its ongoing process — a check that the service delivered is the service the policy commits to.

Quality management

A documented quality management system governs how work is carried out, with customer satisfaction monitored as one of its measures and results reported to management.

Certification

Focus CFS operates a documented quality management system and an occupational health and safety framework. Current certification details are available on request — contact us and we will provide the certificate, issuing body and validity directly.
