Facilities

Purpose-built ground at Kipevu.

Container storage, a dedicated motor vehicle terminal and covered warehousing occupy separate areas of one secured site — so handling equipment, truck movements and storage never compete for the same space.

On site

Eight areas of the station, each with its own ground, access and handling equipment.

Everything the cargo passes through.

From the gate a truck enters to the ground your container stands on — laid out so that no two cargo types compete for the same space.

Container Yard

The container storage area is segregated from the motor vehicle yard, with handling capacity of 5,000 TEUs. Keeping the two apart means handling equipment, truck movements and storage are organised by cargo type rather than competing for the same ground.

The yard also carries project and out-of-gauge consignments that cannot be stacked — fabricated steel, plant and oversized equipment staged in the open while route and permits are arranged.

Motor Vehicle Terminal

A dedicated car terminal with capacity to handle 3,000 units, run by a team assigned specifically to vehicle operations. Vehicles are received over their own secured ramp rather than through the container gate.

The ramp carries its own entry and exit gates, which keeps vehicle loading and offloading clear of container traffic and prevents congestion building at the main gate.

Warehouse & LCL Facility

Covered warehousing handles deconsolidation and storage. Containers are stripped and cargo transferred to the Less Container Load area, with a warehouse management system maintaining inventory throughout.

Hazardous cargo is stored separately and in accordance with HAZMAT compatibility requirements — a storage rule that governs what may be held next to what, not simply how it is labelled.

Reefer Handling

Refrigerated containers are handled to maintain the integrity of temperature-sensitive cargo across the time it spends in the station, with documentation prioritised so clearance does not become the constraint on release.

Cargo Examination & Clearance

Focus CFS is a one-stop clearance hub. The relevant government agencies — the Kenya Revenue Authority, the Kenya Bureau of Standards and the Kenya Police — are located within the facility, so verification happens where the cargo already is.

For an importer this removes an entire movement from the clearance sequence. Cargo does not travel to be inspected and travel back; it is examined on the ground it is standing on.

Security Infrastructure

The entire facility is enclosed by a perimeter wall carrying electric fencing. Entry and exit gates are manned, with security personnel vetting every person who enters, and camera surveillance covers the movement of containers and vehicles within the station.

A separated pedestrian walkway routes people entering the yard away from handling equipment and truck movements — a safety measure and an access-control measure at the same time.

Security

Cargo security isn’t an add-on. It’s part of the operation.

The station is a controlled environment: a walled boundary, gates that are manned rather than automated, and camera coverage of the ground your cargo stands on.

Perimeter wall with electric fencing

The entire facility is enclosed by a perimeter wall carrying electric fencing.

CCTV surveillance

Movement of vehicles and containers within the station is monitored by camera.

Manned entry and exit gates

Access control at the gates is through manned security who vet all persons accessing the facility.

Separated pedestrian access

All persons entering the yard use a separated pedestrian walkway, away from handling equipment.

Supervised yard operations

Yard supervisor and security offices are positioned at the entry and exit gates.

Release against verified documents

Cargo leaves only against a valid gate pass and verified documentation.
